Potential Automotive Class Proceeding Under Investigation:

GM Master Brake Cylinder Defect and Brake Failure Issues (Main)

Our firm is currently investigating a potential Canada-wide class proceeding in British Columbia concerning certain:

−      2025 Chevrolet Traverse

−      2025 GMC Acadia

−      2025 Buick Enclave

−      2025 Chevrolet Colorado

−      2025 GMC Canyon

vehicles and reported issues affecting the vehicles' master brake cylinder assemblies and braking systems.

We have received and reviewed reports indicating that certain affected vehicles may experience premature failure of the master brake cylinder assembly, a critical braking component responsible for converting brake pedal input into hydraulic braking force.

According to reports reviewed to date, affected vehicles may display various warning indicators and messages, including brake system warnings, ABS warnings, electronic stability control warnings, and "Service Brake System" or "Service Brake Assist" notifications. Owners have also reported instances of unusually stiff brake pedals, brake pedals sinking toward the floor, loss of brake assist, reduced braking effectiveness, and, in some circumstances, partial or complete loss of braking capability.

Our firm is reviewing whether internal defects within the master brake cylinder assembly may cause sudden degradation of hydraulic brake pressure, potentially impairing the vehicle's ability to safely slow or stop.

Reports reviewed to date suggest that many affected vehicles allegedly experienced these issues at relatively low mileage, in some instances within weeks or months of delivery. Reports also indicate that some owners have experienced extended delays obtaining replacement parts and repairs.

Because the alleged defect concerns a critical vehicle safety system, our firm is reviewing whether the reported condition may increase the risk of collisions, property damage, personal injury, or other losses.

Our firm is also reviewing publicly available information concerning prior service actions, warranty repairs, customer complaints, and whether similar brake system concerns were known before the sale of affected vehicles.

This investigation is ongoing and is being conducted to determine whether the legal requirements under British Columbia's Class Proceedings Act are met, including whether common issues exist and whether a class proceeding would be the preferable procedure.

If you own or lease one of the vehicles identified above and have experienced brake warnings, brake assist failures, loss of braking performance, repeated brake repairs, or related concerns, you may contact our firm to share your experience. Providing information is confidential, free of charge, and does not obligate you to retain our firm or participate in any legal proceeding.

This page will be updated as our investigation progresses.
